Drunk driver causes motor vehicle accident
Two men have been arrested on liquor law charges, following an accident in the 300 block of Martin Luther King Drive.
Det. Sgt. Mike Hopson said Officer Rodney Rickman was dispatched to the scene of the accident and found the driver of the vehicle that caused the accident intoxicated. The suspect told police he was headed westbound on Martin Luther King Drive in the 400 block when he struck another vehicle. Rickman reports the man admitted he had been drinking alcohol. An inventory of the vehicle turned up a case of cold beer cans.
Rickman reported the driver to have slurred speech and poor motor skills. The suspect failed a field sobriety test and was placed under arrest.
Rickman also reports he found an intoxicated man in the area during the arrest and labeled him as a bystander in the police report. Rickman subsequently arrested the bystander as well.
Ismael Rodriguez Garcia, 29, of Ennis was charged with driving while intoxicated. Daniel Juan Jose Flores, 24, of Ennis was charged with public intoxication.
Ennis men charged for fighting
Officer Jim Worley was dispatched to the 100 block of E. Washington St. Sunday night in reference to a disturbance, according to Det. Sgt. Mike Hopson. Worley reports he found two male subjects covered in dirt walking down the street. The men told Worley they had been fighting over $20. Both men were taken into custody and transported to Ennis police department without further incident.
Jose Jesus Gomez, 39, and Michael James Hall, 55, both of Ennis were charged with disorderly conduct-fighting.
Super 1 Foods captures shoplifter
Ennis police were informed of a shoplifter in custody at Super 1 Foods Saturday afternoon after the man was caught attempting to leave the store with items he had not purchased. Store employees caught the man trying to take meat and beer out of the store.
Mohamed Houssa, 27, of Ennis was charged with theft of less than $50.
