Suspect booked in boot attack

Ennis police arrested Osvaldo Ayala, 28, of Ennis on Saturday, charging him with assault after he allegedly sent his wife to the hospital for injuries suffered from being beaten with a boot.
Det. Sgt. Mike Hopson said at 8:30 p.m. Officer Jeff Aaron met with the victim at Ennis Regional Medical Center, where she was visiting for the second time on Saturday. The woman told Aaron she had gone to the hospital earlier in the day to check on a pain in her abdomen. When she got home later that evening Ayala asked where she had been. Hopson said allegedly Ayala said he did not believe she had been to the hospital and hit her in the head with a boot, causing a cut and leading her to go to the emergency room.
