Wanted: Young ladies of Czech and Slovak descent
The Czech Heritage Society of Texas is seeking young ladies of Czech, Moravian, Silesian or Slovak descent to serve as chapter queens and to compete for the title of Miss Czech-Slovak Texas.
The purpose of the queen is to encourage youth involvement and represent The Czech Heritage Society of Texas at various events within the state or as directed, and at the National Miss Czech-Slovak USA Pageant in August held in Wilber, Nebraska.
This year’s Miss Czech-Slovak Texas will be selected at the Spring State meeting of the Czech Heritage Society in Caldwell, Texas on Saturday, April 21, 2007. The deadline for Chapter queens to enter the state competition is March 15. Chapter deadlines will be earlier.
Contestants must be between 16 and 26 years of age prior to Sept. 1, 2007. She must be attending high school, junior college, technical school, college, university or be a high school graduate. She must be a citizen of the United States. She must be an adult or youth member (as classified under parent or grandparent) of the Czech Heritage Society of Texas Chapter that she will represent. The young lady must possess and display a maximum of five minutes of “live” talent presentation. This may be singing, dancing, playing a musical instrument, dramatic reading, art display, dress designing, poetry, drawings, gymnastics, etc.
Potential candidates should contact their local chapter for more information on becoming a Chapter Queen and representing their county at the state level.
