H1N1 flu fight begins at home

With students back in school and the flu season fast approaching, Ellis County and Ennis ISD officials are encouraging the public to practice prevention techniques to avoid contracting the H1N1 flu.
During the peak of last spring’s outbreak of H1N1, more commonly known as swine flu, Ellis County had eight confirmed cases of the virus. Although the outbreak slowed during the summer months, health officials are predicting a resurgence of the virus this fall.
On Thursday, the Dallas Morning News reported one swine flu death in Dallas County so far this year. Texas Christian University is in the midst of a swine flu outbreak, with 88 students having contracted the virus as of Wednesday, according to TCU’s student newspaper, the Daily Skiff.
