Theater offers weekend laughs

It’s time for a weekend getaway, and for two couples intent on time alone with their significant others, it becomes a weekend of surprises.

Weekend Comedy, the next play in the Ennis Public Theatre season, is set for its first curtain at 8 p.m. Friday. It tells the story of Frank and Peggy, an older couple looking to reignite the romance in their marriage with a weekend in a secluded cabin in the Catskill Mountains, only to be interrupted by Jill and Tony, a younger couple double-booked for the same weekend.
“If you want to laugh, come to this show,” said Director Bill Rhoten. “This older couple gets double-booked with a couple in their 20s, and without spoiling too much, I’ll tell you they decide to ride it out for the weekend. It’s like water and oil.”
