Midway Panthers best visiting Lady Lion volleyball

On Friday night, Lady Lion volleyball hit the road for quite a daunting challenge, as it took on the Hewitt Midway Panthers.
While Ennis (9-23, 5-8) nearly managed to steal a game when the two teams met at home in the first district round, Midway was sharp on its home court to come away with a sweep: 25-12, 25-9 and 25-11.
Considering the quality of opponent, Ennis needed to take the floor with its A-plus game.

“We really didn’t play well in this one and it could’ve been the long road trip, giving Midway too much respect or if we’re subconsciously shutting down a little bit at the end of the season when we don’t a chance for the playoffs,” said coach Kim Vernor.
“Missed serves, bad passing and serve receive all gave us problems (Friday).”

Allie Rokas tallied three kills in the first nine points of the match (3-6), but in the remainder of game one Midway limited her to one tip. Ariel Elbert served up a couple of aces, while Monae Edwards came up with an excellent kill just inside the Midway baseline. Ennis made it to 12-20 before Midway finished strong (12-25).
