Quarterback Betik avoids serious injury vs. Midway

It’s true Ennis quarterback D.J. Betik did stay overnight in a Waco hospital on Thursday after he was injured on a second-quarter run against Hewitt Midway, but the report released by an unnamed Dallas radio station that he underwent emergency surgery is definitely false.
Betik took a helmet to the ribs on a six-yard run and laid on the ground for several minutes before he was able to make it to the sidelines.

“I’ve gotten the breath knocked out of me before, but it definitely felt worse than that,” D.J. said on Friday night.

“I couldn’t really hear anything right after it happened.”
