Lion cross-country sends pair to regional meet

After what would have to be considered the low point in the recent history of the program — the 2008 district meet — Lion cross-country made some strides on Wednesday at the 2009 16-4A meet in Midlothian.
The varsity boys moved up from eighth a year ago to fifth this year, while the varsity girls moved up from fifth to fourth.

“The (district) course had been redone (to some degree) and it was in better shape than we expected, outside of a couple of rough areas,”
said coach Lonnie Redning.

For the varsity boys, freshman Omar Flores was clearly the story as he finished ninth overall to qualify for regionals.
