Czech Heritage Society of Texas calling for essay entries

The Czech Heritage Society of Texas is sponsoring an essay contest promoting Czech Heritage among the intermediate (grades 7-9) and high school students (grades 10-12) in each of its 15 chapter areas in Texas.
This year’s essay topics are: Category I – Grades 10-12 – “Czechs in America, Some Became Famous For Their Contributions,” Category II – Grades 7-9 – “Early Czech Traditions or Folklore.”
The entries will first be judged in the local chapters where the essay writer resides. The contest is open from Dec. 1, 2006 – Feb. 15, 2007. All essays must be in to the local chapter by Feb. 15, 2007. Local Chapters may offer cash prizes to the top winners. Winning essays from each chapter will be forwarded to the state level where first and second place winners will be picked in each category and cash prizes will be awarded.
Local students should contact local Czech Heritage Society representative Victor Pochobradsky, at 972-449-2099 for more details.
