4 charged in assault

Four men have been indicted for their alleged involvement in an assault and pistol-whipping in September that caused the victim serious injury.
Three indicted for aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury were Jose Francisco Gonzales, 18, Gregory Jones, 24, and Johnny Villa, 23.

The fourth, indicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, was Richard Bravo, 18, presumably charged with wielding the pistol against the victim in the attack.

Det. Mike Hopson, Ennis police spokesman, said the case was called in by the victim, who told investigators that the suspects had assaulted him in his front yard.

“The victim received contusions, cuts and had blood coming from his nose, mouth and ears,” he said. “The complainant and witnesses knew and identified the subjects.”

Aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury or with a deadly weapon are charges classified as second-degree felonies and carry a possible sentence of between 2-20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
