Titanic third quarter crucial to topple Trojans

Lady Lion basketball coach David Kilpatrick might want to just skip the first half of Ennis’ games entirely.
For the second time this week, the Lady Lions (12-5, 1-1) followed a lackluster opening half with a huge third quarter to seize control. On Friday, however, they managed to put the Waco University Trojans away 56-47.

Earlier in the week, Midlothian staged a late rally to pull out a tight win. In both of these games, the Lady Lions scored 19 points in the opening half only to explode for 26 in the third quarter.

Ennis trailed University 23-19 at the break and just didn’t seem to be fully invested in what was a critically important district contest.

“(Friday) I was a little more animated at halftime (compared to Tuesday) because we didn’t have the same kind of effort we had versus Midlothian,” the coach said.
