Flex day program raises questions for EISD parents
With discussion about the Optional Flex Year Program at the January meeting of the Ennis ISD School Board, some parents are concerned about how the program, if implemented, will affect their children.
The OFYP would allow up to 10 flexible days per year for students who have passed the TAKS test, are passing their classes, and have at least 90 percent attendance. The eligible students would be able to take these designated days off from school.
The days would serve as additional instruction time for students who don’t qualify.
The day would focus on intensive instructional time done in small groups, to assist the students who the district sees as needing additional help, said Brian Fry, curriculum director for Ennis ISD.
