Voter registration ends Monday
The last day to register for the March 2 Primary Election is coming up Monday.
The election involves a host of four-year term offices from Texas governor to Supreme Court members, state senators, district attorneys, district judges, county and district clerks, treasurers, commissioners and justices of the peace, among others.
A pair of two-year term offices — state and U.S. representatives — are also up for election.
Early voting will begin Feb. 16 and run through Feb. 26, and the deadline to apply for a ballot to vote by mail is Feb. 23.
To be eligible to register and join the 13 million registered voters in this state, individuals must be a U.S. citizen, a resident of the county, 18 years old, not a convicted felon and not declared mentally incapacitated by a court.
“Voting is an important part of being a Texan and my office is committed to ensuring that every eligible voter understands their rights and can have confidence in the integrity of our elections process,” said Texas Secretary of State Hope Andrade.
“I hope that my fellow Texans will join me in participating in this great democratic process.”
Of the 12.7 million registered voters in the state during the 2006 election cycle, 1.1 million cast a ballot in the race to lead the state as Texas governor.
