JV Maroon Lions edge Corsicana in extra innings

Early on it looked as if the JV Maroon Lions might run away with Monday’s game, but Corsicana had other ideas.
Ennis (7-5, 3-1) held a 5-2 advantage through five innings only to see Corsicana score the next five for a 7-5 lead going to the bottom of the seventh. The Lions tied the game and then won it in the bottom of the eighth by an 8-7 margin. Ennis finished with more hits (13-10) and errors (5-4).

“We made too many errors and shouldn’t have played with those guys as long as we did, but in the end the kids showed what they’re really made of and came through with the W,” said coach Rick Batten. “If we don’t play our game, any team in the district can beat us. That’s what the players have to understand.”
