Midlothian wins battle for third spot vs. Ennis

Wednesday night’s ballgame meant a lot regarding the playoff picture as the regular season wraps up.
The winner between the host Midlothian Panthers and visiting Lady Lion softball (22-12, 7-6) would seize the district’s third seed, while the loser would take fourth and get a bi-district playoff date with state-ranked Forney. The contest was close early, but Midlothian erupted for five runs in the third to finalize the score in a 9-3 victory. The Panthers finished with more hits (14-6) and fewer errors (0-2).

Ennis won the prior meeting 4-3, but Midlothian showed signs offensively back then with nine hits. The Lady Lions only tallied one hit in their final four at bats on Wednesday and coach Rodney McNeill knows that won’t get it done in the Forney matchup.
