Auditions set May 1 for EPT’s next play

The Ennis Public Theatre is opening up auditions for its next production, Dearly Departed, while it continues a crowd-pleasing run of Ted Swindley’s Always … Patsy Cline.
Dearly Departed, a play by David Bottrell and Jessie Jones, is often referred to as a “drop dead funny” comedy, with the pun surely intended. The play centers on the family of Bud Turpin, who in the midst of planning for an upcoming funeral, share a barrel of laughs with their audience.

Auditions for the play will be held from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. May 1 at the theater, located at 2705 C N. Kaufman St. in Ennis. Spots are open for five men ages 30-65 and seven women ages 18-65.

The show itself will run Fridays and Saturdays from June 4-26, with a special Sunday matinee at 2:30 p.m. June 28.

For more information, call the theater at 972-878-7529.
