Lion juniors deliver the goods at district track

As the final event came around at the 16-4A track meet last week, the Ennis varsity boys’ team finish was anything but settled.
If the Lions didn’t earn any points in the 4×400-meter relay, they would finish seventh in the district ahead of only Waco University. As it turned out, Ennis shook things up in a major way with the junior quartet of Ravi Dubose, Adam Martinek, John Cox and Curtis Tekell bringing home 20 points with a first-place finish. That result vaulted the Lions all the way up to fourth place as a team — three points ahead of fifth-place Waco High.

The relay team qualified for the Region II Championships in Denton on May 3-4, but Dubose and Tekell also finished one and two in the 400-meter dash to qualify there as well.
