Ennis logs ‘up’ month for sales and use tax

Ennis’ sales tax receipts showed year-over-year growth in reports released this week that cover March activity.
May disbursements for Ennis will near $363,000, up from just above $347,000 for the same period last year. That represents a 4.5 percent change — the city is still down overall for the year to date around 4.9 percent.

Texas Comptroller Susan Combs announced the state collected $1.68 billion in sales tax revenue in April, up 1.4 percent from the same period in 2009, and local government disbursements for May will edge up to $567 million, up nearly 5 percent compared to disbursements in May 2009.
