Windfall donation aids Ennis library

An anonymous donor has pumped almost $640,000 into the Ennis Public Library, and city commissioners will be charged with deciding how to spend that.
With that infusion of capital, the city is already moving on a long-term plan to expand the facility. Monday, commissioners recessed into an executive session to mull a property purchase from adjacent Lawyers Title business owner Ross Massengill.

City Manager Steve Howerton said that donation and sale affords the city the rest of the space on that block.

“Whoever made this donation was a very great supporter of this community,” Howerton said.
