Birdwell wins Senate 22 seat

Gulf War vet and 9/11 survivor Brian Birdwell has defeated former state senator and fellow Republican David Sibley in a special runoff to fill the state Senate District 22 vacancy.
In unofficial results reported on the Texas Secretary of State’s website, Birdwell polled 14,198 votes, or 58 percent of the vote, to Sibley’s 10,333 votes, or 42 percent.

“This is an incredible victory tonight for hard-working conservatives and taxpayers who believed in our message of lower taxes, more freedom, less government and traditional values,” Birdwell said. “I want to thank my many supporters and friends across the district who took a stand for the values that they believe in. I am honored and humbled to serve the great people of this district and they have my word that I will strive to represent them with honor and integrity in Austin. I also want to thank David Sibley for his gracious congratulatory call tonight and for his service to the people of Texas.”
