Burn ban nixed for now

Citizens can ring in Independence Day with a bang due to a decision by Ellis County Commissioners on Monday.
The commissioners decided not to enact a burn ban for the county and fire investigator Jim Pharr said the Fourth of July holiday and possible rain in the forecast this week were both factors in the decision.

Although a burn ban would not restrict the sale of fireworks, it would prohibit community members from setting them off.
