City urges residents to check permits
Residents looking at the need to fix a damaged roof have the power to insure they’re getting what they’re paying for, and some rumors of questionable work have fueled the need for reminders.
In the weeks following heavy storms in May, Ennis’ inspection department has hummed with activity as roofing contractors have reroofed a number of homes. This year has also seen a number of roofing jobs in the city, with more than 220 homes reroofed since October 2009, said Chief Inspector Buddy Markham.
Complaints of roofers who lack permits or are working without city supervision have been rumored, and Markham said they should be filed with the city’s inspections office if legitimate.
