Birdwell sworn in as senator

GRANBURY — Gov. Rick Perry has canvassed the election results from the June 22 special election runoff, clearing the way for Lt. Col. (Ret.) Brian Birdwell to be sworn in and immediately assume his duties as Texas State Senator for District 22.
Joined by his wife Mel and son Matt, Birdwell was privately administered the oath by Perry in his Capitol Office.

Birdwell announced that a ceremonial public swearing in will be held on July 22 at 7 p.m. in the district.
