GAME TIME: Lions open year tonight in Arlington

The Ennis Lions will hit the road tonight for their 2010 season opener to face a familiar foe.
While the Arlington Seguin Cougars aren’t a team Lion fans count on seeing every year, Ennis did encounter them during district play in 2006 and 2007. The Cougars went 4-7 last year and lost to Ft. Worth Arlington Heights in the bi-district round. Arlington Seguin returns 14 starters, or twice as many as Ennis.

“You can’t substitute for experience, and I’m sure that’s a plus for them coming in,” said coach Steve Marrow. “They’ve had some in the battle before. The good thing for our younger kids is their experience will begin to build in this game. We have some of our own guys with some experience under their belt, and it’s a huge factor.”
