Last chance to vote early

Early voting is coming to a close around the state on Friday, and that means we have another opportunity to opt for the convenience of voting at our leisure over the need to vote on Election Day itself on Tuesday.
Either way, we want to extend our encouragement again for all of the registered voters in our county to pick themselves up and head out to the polls. The future of our state over the span of the upcoming terms rests in the hands of the voters who educate themselves about the choices they’re preparing to make and then head out to cast their ballots.

They’re exercising their civic duty by taking charge of the future of their county, state and nation, and investing in the democratic process that has brought our country to the heights of power at which it sits now. We think that it’s a noble effort worth supporting and urging all residents, whether they think their voice matters or not, to undertake.

Especially important are the new, young voters.

Those fresh-faced 18-year-olds who have turned in their registration have the opportunity for the first time to vote for the future of our state, choosing a governor, lieutenant governor and offices all the way down to local justices of the peace. They need guidance and leadership of more experienced adults to be interested in the electoral process in many cases, but getting their votes in will prove to be an empowering experience they’ll learn to appreciate deeply.

Get out there and vote, Ellis County. We have too many dogs in this race to let it slip by us without having our voices heard by the leaders who make decisions that effect our lives.
