Student jailed for child porn

Ennis police say they booked a 19-year-old college student for child pornography this week.
Police cars swarmed the home of Oais Michael Al-Qasim on North Sherman Street on the morning of Oct. 15, confiscating both a desktop and laptop computer while the suspect looked on, said Ennis Police Department spokesman Det. Sgt. Mike Hopson. The investigation began three weeks prior, however.

“On Sept. 22, the Dallas Police Department’s Child Exploitation Unit called Det. Sgt. (Mark) Mahoney and told him that a house on North Sherman had come up for downloading some child pornography,” Hopson said. “They forwarded the information about the incident on Oct. 14, and on Oct. 15, we raided the house.”
