Stellar start keys Lions in Battle of 287

When the time comes for the Battle of 287 each year, the records for each team can be thrown out.
That was proven on Friday night in Waxahachie, as the Ennis Lions (2-7, 1-6) blew the doors off of the Waxahachie Indian (4-5, 3-4) bandwagon with a sensational first half to win 41-28. The Lions led 41-7 early in the third quarter and were actually in firm command of the contest by the end of the opening quarter. The loss brought an end to Waxahachie’s 20-year playoff streak.

“We knew these kids would come out here and play hard,” said coach Steve Marrow. “They didn’t need a big speech to get motivated.”
