Firefighters give teacher big boost

Members of the Ennis Firefighters’ Association No. 3320 delivered the results of their efforts Thursday in the form of a check to Ashton Russ.
Russ, a teacher at Houston Elementary School, completed a 60-mile three-day walk for Susan G. Komen for the Cure Nov. 5-7. To participate, she was required to raise $2,300. Of that, $2,000 came from the Ennis Firefighters’ Association sale of pink EFD T-shirts during the “Care Enough to Wear Pink” campaign in October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“I did it in honor of my grandmother,” Russ said.
