Veterans Memorial Park work hums

By the city’s estimates, work on Ennis Veterans Memorial Park is progressing at a good clip.
City Manager Steve Howerton said that the last month’s dry, mild weather has created a positive work environment for the irrigation, sodding and foundation work that has made up the largest part of the effort to prepare fields at the park. Plans call for three surfaces to be complete in April 2011 for children’s football and soccer league play.

Those three fields are in varied stages of work, with Field No. 1 already planted with rye grass. Site grading and irrigation work projects are finished at Field No. 2, as well, and grass planting was set for Tuesday, Howerton said. Field No. 3 is set for site grading work to be wrapped next week, with irrigation and seeding work scheduled for completion by Dec. 10.
