Swing into the spirit at parade

Tomorrow begins the month of December. Once it is firmly upon us, we can’t avoid the subtle, growing stress of navigating the Christmas holiday in one piece.
It’s one of the best times of year for community togetherness because it is a holiday that in Ennis is celebrated with warmth and light.

Downtown will come alive yet again tonight as the city’s annual Christmas parade heads out to brave the streets on what is forecast to be a chill winter night.

That’s, of course, deeply fitting, but don’t be surprised to see blankets on out there.

The beauty of the parade itself, a tradition built on the idea that gathering together and celebrating puts us in a better place for the activities of the coming weeks, is the smiles and the show.

We get a distinct feeling of anticipation when it’s around the corner, and look forward to not only the parade of floats designed with care by local organizations, businesses and individuals, but the other entertainment features.

Dance shows by students in the community, musical entertainment and a visit from Santa Claus are just some of the pieces involved.

We’re winding down toward the end of 2010 as we get into this year’s Christmas and New Year season.

Let’s enter the holiday on the right foot by getting out to be a part of the parade on a special evening in Ennis.

Your opportunity to be a part of that evening is before you now.

Bring the family, the blankets and definitely the thick coats for a show of bright lights and warm spirits.
