Falling short doesn’t mean stop giving

By this time last year, the Greater Ennis United Way had managed to meet its funding goal for the year, a stout sum indeed that the community came together to support for the good of area nonprofits.
Thus far, we are short of the goals for fundraising that had been set months back during the beginning of the fall drive. That means cuts are looking like a necessity for local nonprofit agencies like Friends of the Ennis Public Library, Golden Circle Senior Center, Helping Hands of Ennis and the others that the group supplies funding for.

It would be a shame to see, in a harsh economy when nonprofit services are leaned on more than ever, that the community’s needs couldn’t be met because of a lack of funding available for the group.

That is, of course, unless private donations are enough to be able to infuse the organization’s budget with a bit more life. It’s never too late to give to the Greater Ennis United Way with the goal of improving the lives of those in the greater Ennis area who utilize the services and resources that the organization helps to fund.

Even if the employee and corporate giving drive is wrapping up short of the hoped-for benchmark, we still have a distinct need to make what donations we can to help the group.
