Lady Lions compete in holiday tournament

One sure thing about the schedule for Lady Lion basketball each year is that the team will face its most difficult tournament challenges at the Mansfield Rotary Invitational.
“We were on the waiting list to get in this tournament the first two years I was (at Ennis High), because I knew we were going to have some good teams coming through,” said coach David Kilpatrick. “When we finally got in we did some good things, including a win over Amarillo at the buzzer and an upset over Ft. Worth Dunbar. Now we’re down a little bit, but you don’t want to get out of the tournament and lose your place.

“We’re going to be good again here in another year or two, so I want to make sure we stay in it. There are a lot of college scouts that go to these games and it’s a really well-run tournament.”
