Alvarez gets the job

On Tuesday night, the Ennis Independent School District’s Board of Trustees voted unanimously to hire Jack Alvarez as the new head coach of Lion football.
After board members met for roughly 10 minutes, David Estes announced the board’s recommendation to hire Alvarez. Board president Mack Boyd thanked the six-person group in charge of the coach search for their hard work this month, and then Alvarez uttered a spirited “Go Lions!” in his first moments as Ennis coach.

“In the coaching community, there aren’t many secrets when a job comes open,” Alvarez said. “The buzz starts behind the scenes and this is thought of as one of the best jobs in the state. I was trying to put myself in position for something like this and because it’s such a good job it’s one of the few that I applied for.”
