Involvement in Super Bowl good for area

Local creative group Inspiration Inc. Arts in the Community has distinguished itself by getting its foot in the door for Super Bowl XLV.
The group’s upcoming production of Regina Taylor’s “Crowns” at Bob Knight’s Field House in Duncanville on Feb. 5 will put local talent and the Ennis name out there into the general fray of what promises to be the biggest sporting event of the 2011 sports season. The impact of that is hard to quantify at this point, but it carries with it the prestige of involvement that could pay dividends to Inspiration Inc., if not the rest of us.

The play itself is a spirited production that celebrates a Southern church-going culture the vast majority of us are familiar with, in one way or another. And for those of us who may not be able to make it to Duncanville next week to see the show, there are local performances in the works in the coming weeks.

However, with the pomp and circumstance of the Super Bowl taking over the Metroplex already, there’s reason to be proud local people are involved in part of the fanfare around the big game.

The Ultimate Super Bowl Week events are attracting several big names from Hollywood including Vivica A. Fox, Omar Gooding and Regina King. No promises, of course, but there exists the possibility for great exposure with so much attention focused on the area.

Ennis’ community members may be somewhat of strangers to the big names in the Dallas area, but putting local talent out there in the midst of an entertainment blitz like the Super Bowl is just good for bringing attention on us. There’s no telling what kind of positives can come from it, so we feel like the effort to get involved in all of the glitz of this event is effort well spent.
