Monday shooting linked to previous incidents

Police say that in likely retaliation for the recent arrests of Wilbur Griffith III, 19, and Christopher James Nealy, 18, both of Dallas, an Ennis residence was shot at Monday evening with no injuries reported.
Det. Lt. Ron Roark said at 10:34 p.m. Ennis police received a report of shots fired in the 1700 block of N. Breckenridge St. Officers were dispatched and found seven bullet holes in the home at 1703 N. Breckenridge St. Roark said the bullets were shot from 45-caliber and 9mm pistols and the number of shooters was unknown at this time. No witnesses or neighbors have yet come forward to give information concerning the incident.
According to Roark, Monday’s shooting is likely directly related to a shooting in the 2800 block of N. Kaufman St. from Friday morning. Two men were captured following a shootout between two vehicles that led police to the area.
The men had attempted to force an innocent bystander to drive them back to Dallas by displaying the weapons they were carrying, but police arrived at the Shell gas station at I-45 and N. Kaufman St. and was able to detain Griffith and Nealy before they escaped.
Griffith and Nealy were both charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated kidnapping and unlawful carrying a weapon.
Roark said these two shootings, along with the Jan. 19 armed robbery that left Xavier Davis, 25, of Ennis hospitalized from a shot to the back of the leg, would all be treated as one case. According to Roark, the case is ongoing and they are working with one or more individuals in an effort to identify the suspects.
