Austin students show off good manners

Phil Banker, phil@ennisdailynews.com

Students at Austin Elementary earned a special lunch Wednesday giving them to chance to show off their newly-learned fine dining table manners.

David Gutierrez, Ennis ISD food services director, treated 20 Austin students to a specially-prepared meal in an effort to teach table manners.

Austin Principal Denise Winnett said each school uses the fine dining lunch as a reward in its own way. She said the participants at Austin’s lunch were chosen from kids with perfect attendance and no tardies.

“I’m thrilled that Austin kids are participating this year,” Winnett said. “I think this is a good experience for them.”
