Building plans on table

Downtown property owners again head before the Historic Landmark Commission Tuesday to determine their next step in addressing catastrophic damage from the May 16 tornado.

Keith Jantz and Buddy and Leann Markham, who own 213-215 W. Ennis Ave. and 207 W. Ennis Ave., respectively, appeared last week before the commission. Jantz was asked to return this week with a post-demolition plan for his 11,000-square-foot historic building property, while the Markhams received a certificate of appropriateness from the commission to proceed with demolition. That move came after promises from the Markhams that selling the property is the No. 1 goal, and demolition will be a last resort.
