City commission approves safety zone, agreement with Union Pacific
Ennis city commissioners unanimously approved entering into a preliminary engineering agreement with Union Pacific in the amount of $500,000 to pursue a safety zone downtown. The safety zone at the railroad crossing is part of the city’s five-year Community Improvement Plan. The city, at a previous commission meeting, unveiled a three-minute video presentation of a rendering of what the safety zone could look like once complete. The video itself can be viewed by visiting www.ennistx.gov. Lockwood, Andrews, & Newman Inc., (LAN) provided the track, structural and civil engineering which includes pedestrian accommodation elements and other features along the right-of-way crossings.
