City considering rental property fee, owners register

In an effort to curb complaints, the city is considering having rental property owners register with the city and apply a yearly fee to keep the properties up to snuff and landlords accountable. The yearly fee would be $25 per unit or dwelling. “For the city this not a money making move,” said City Manager Scott Dixon. “The end game is to improve the living conditions for renters and those living in rental properties.” Read the full story and more in your Weekend edition of The Ennis News.
