City fire rating drops to ‘2’

Ennis homeowners could see their insurance premiums decline after the Insurance Services Office improved the city’s fire rating.

An Aug. 1 letter to the city informed management that the ISO had awarded a preliminary improvement in rating from 3 to 2, the second best in the state of Texas and United States. Optimistically, the advantageous re-rating could lead homeowners’ insurance payments to drop in 2014, and homeowners are encouraged to inquire with their insurance carriers about the re-rating.
