City Service restored, crews expected to finish water main repair

The Ennis City Commission cancelled its first meeting of the New Year on Tuesday night where staff were to be given updates on various ongoing projects as well progress on a major water main break that occurred on Jan. 5. The commission will reconvene at a meeting slated for later this month. However, city crews are still addressing a major water main break in town. The City was informed of a leak at the intersection of Ensign Rd., and Hwy 34 and determined that the leak was likely on a 12” connection to a 16” concrete cylinder water line. After isolating the problem crews were in the process of isolating the leak and determining which joint or section had failed. Various water valves were turned off during this process until the correct valve was identified. Water to the affected area was disconnected.
