Caldwell announces Ward 1 run

Local small business owner Weldon Caldwell is the first to announce his candidacy for the Ward 1 city commissioner seat in the May 7 general election.

“I am not running on any specific platform except to say that I would like to see Ennis flourish and prosper with the continued quest to bring industry, retail and jobs to our citizens and the town we love so much,” he said Friday. “I would like to see continued support for our local celebrations and events such as the Farmers Market, Christmas Parade of Lights and, of course, our beloved Polka Festival.”
