City growth prompts re-signing retail contract

As the city continues to grow, businesses are showing more and more interest in Ennis.

The Ennis Economic Development Corporation (EDC) signed a 12-month contract with Retail Coach, a business that specializes in gathering data and helping Ennis recruit new retailers, on Tuesday.

Recently, Retail Coach has helped to recruit new businesses that Aaron Farmer, a representative with the business, says are pretty much in the bag this point, citing “three or four” new businesses interested in moving to Ennis “in the next few months to a year.”

Two of the possible businesses mentioned were a Chipotle, a restaurant that specializes in burritos, and Starbucks, a new one with the addition of a drive-thru.
