Depleted Commission blocks crime control grant

What appeared to be a step toward delivering a new police facility to the city

Monday evening became subject to political dissent.

With only four city commissioners present at Monday’s meeting – Jeremy Salik, Ken

Hackney and Lola Searcy absent – a unanimous vote was needed to pass an

ordinance to amend the Economic Development Corporation’s budget to provide a

$150,000 grant to the city’s Crime Control and Prevention District.
