Ennis home values dip

Nick Todaro, nick@ennisdailynews.com

Data from the county’s appraisal district show that, on average, single-family residences declined in value in Ennis this year, meaning a number of residents will pay lower property taxes.

Statistics released by Chief Appraiser Kathy Rodrigue show the overall value of single-family homes dropped by a little less than 2 percent year-over-year, the largest such change in the four largest municipalities in Ellis County for the year. Assessed values in 2012 totaled more than $405 million, with the 2013 total sliding to $399 million after about $1.26 million in new improvements.
