South Plaza: DMP’s second anchor

In the Ennis of the future, planners envision a north and south anchor for the historic downtown.

In Tuesday’s edition of The Ennis Daily News, we revealed the north anchor, which Mesa Planning calls the North Plaza. The south anchor, according to Mesa Project Manager Ashley Shook would then logically be called the South Plaza.

“This is done in the commercial-baroque style. That’s what we call it,” she said. “It is really inspired by the businesses and the community that are already there.”

Shook said the strong Hispanic tie to that neighborhood in downtown, including La Michoacana Market, is what gave planners the idea.
