City’s mosquito spraying program to wrap

The city’s mosquito spraying protocols will end Thursday if Ennis continues to see no human infections or positive mosquito tests.

Ennis, the only municipality in Ellis County with an active spray program, has seen no positive human cases or positive mosquito pool tests returned from the Texas Department of State Health Services since its program began. Mosquito testing began in the spring, and the spraying program began in late June after a positive blood West Nile antibody test for a resident just outside city limits spurred concerns.
