Closing arguments set today in murder trial

On the eighth day of the 40th District Court’s ongoing murder trial, both the defense and the prosecution rested their cases, paving the way for closing arguments today and a forthcoming verdict.

After a morning hearing outside the presence of the jury on defense counsel Vance Hinds’ arguments about gang activity and coercion of his client Ruben Hernandez in the killing of Mohammad Hasshemi, the afternoon was devoted to witness testimony. Hernandez’s mother Teresa, wife Eunice and sister Maria took the stand in his defense.
