Commissioners to consider magistrates for DUI blood draws
Phil Banker, phil@ennisdailynews.com
The Ellis County Commissioners Court will discuss utilizing magistrates for authorizing blood draws for suspected drunk drivers, though at least one commissioner has expressed concern regarding such actions.
The court will discuss two proposals on the matter at their 3 p.m. Monday meeting to approve Magistrate Services Contracts between the county and Municipal Judges Scott Kurth and Bill Scott for the “purpose of determining whether sufficient facts justify the issuance of search warrants pertaining to certain alleged intoxication offenses as described within Article 18.01(j) of the Code of Criminal Procedure.”
