U.S. Rep. Joe Barton stopped by Travis Elementary on Friday to speak with third-graders about his place in government, and some of the challenges facing Washington.

Barton was originally slated to speak at the school’s career day, but was unable to attend because of previous obligations in Washington, said Travis Principal Ryan McCabe. Barton spoke to the school’s third- grade students about his responsibilities in Washington while quizzing the children on how much they know about government.
